Alpha Brain Wave Comparison

Ions in the air change with the weather. For example, when a cold front and low pressure system pass, positive ions increase. The increase in positive ions and decrease in negative ions can cause us to feel neuralgia, asthma and so on. In areas of forests, waterfalls and the ocean there are many more negative ions in the air. Negative Ions have shown to increase alpha brain wave activity which is associated with causing us to feel more comfortable and to strengthen concentration abilities. The ratio of negative to positive ions in stable air is about 1:1.2. Typically there are many more positive ions in polluted air and there are many more negative ions in clean air. When the body breathes negative ions, the metabolism of body cells is promoted. Negative ions have thereby have come to be refered to as "Vitamins In The Air".

  • ALPHA brain waves are emitted when the body feels comfortable and stable. When we concentrate on something or join in sporting activities, alpha brain activity increases.

  • SETA brain wave activity increases when the body is in a light sleep. When seta waves increase we lose concentration abilities.

  • BETA brain waves increase during normal daily wake periods.
